About SharonSharon Silva is a
third generation Colorado native who grew up in the mountains north of Woodland
Park. Her elementary school years were spent attending a one room school house
in the mountain community of Westcreek. It was there that her love for writing
and Native American history began. At the age of nine she wrote her first
“novel” on two Big Chief writing tablets. That was truly an omen of things to
come.
The blending of native cultures in her own bloodlines,
having three great-grandmothers descended from three different tribes, led
Sharon on a journey of research, respect and strong spiritual connection to the
world and people who existed long before America was “discovered” by explorers
from across the ocean.
Sharon has written poetry from an early age, many with
Native American themes, and has spent many hours studying the history of the
American Indian, taking a special interest in Mesa Verde and the early pueblo
people, originally referred to as the Anasazi.
In her beginning years as a writer, Sharon authored two
children’s books and began working on a novel around her family history. In
1995, she attended her first Pikes Peak Writer’s Conference and from that
weekend on her life was never quite the same. It was time for her to allow her
inner voices to have their say. Shortly thereafter she became a member of the
Romance Writers of America and their local chapter, Pikes Peak Romance Writers.
Sharon credits much of her success and love for the craft
to her membership in local writer’s groups and her close knit group of writing
confidantes and dear friends, the Dream Weavers Critique Group, who are a
constant source of support and encouragement. It has been through building
these wonderful supportive relationships that her writing dreams became a
reality. Sharon is also a member of Pikes Peak Writers, the sponsoring group
for the Pikes Peak Writers Conference and the Colorado Independent Publishers
Association based in Denver.
Sharon is now the awarding-winning author of three novels
and countless poems. Spirit Dancer is her mystical, suspense-filled
creation set around Mesa Verde and the early pueblo people, a true culmination
of her life long work and path to her dream. In the midst of a very busy
schedule promoting her first published full-length novel, Sharon is working on
the next book of the series and the second book of the trilogy. A nine
book series is planned.
